Dr. Eliane El Hayek, PhD, MS
Research Assistant Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of New Mexico
Eilaine is a research assistant professor at the University of New Mexico (UNM), where she works with the NIEHS-funded Superfund Research Program (SRP) Center to understand how exposures to heavy metals and tiny plastic particles known as microplastics affect human and plant health. Her work is aimed at improving environmental health among local Tribal communities that are disproportionately exposed to these contaminants. El Hayek earned her Ph.D. in environmental science from the Lebanese University and the University of Toulouse in France. Her doctoral work looked at cactuses as a potential tool for monitoring air pollution. Eliane’s connection to nature and farming stems from her shared moments with her father on their land. Walking, running, farming, meditating, and playing on the farm are all free, natural therapies that science is proving their benefit to the human brain every day. Eliane sees her scientific knowledge as a mission to work with the community to protect the environment and promote health
Dr. Karen Hebert, PhD, LMFT, LPC
Karen completed her Ph.D. in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute, and trained with the Amen Clinic in Atlanta. Her practice in Santa Fe uses cutting-edge, holistic treatment that focuses on healing the mind-body connection and works with adults suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, codependency, and grief. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher; certified in Brainspotting, EMDR, and Biofield Tuning, and believes deeply in the mind-body-spirit connection. She has been leading sound bath sessions that promote deep relaxation, nervous system regulation, and gentle restoration since 2025 and received her Level 2 Group Sound Bath Diploma from The Sound Healing Academy.
Claire Jacquez
Claire leads a therapeutic and trauma-informed yoga practice. Her teachers were Tias and Surya Little, who founded Prajna Yoga, which is focused on the healing arts through yoga. As a result, Claire embraced a new way of living through a more holistic yoga practice of movement, breathwork, and meditation, which allowed her to remove limiting beliefs and habits, and gain a true sense of goodness in the world and within herself. She has taught yoga since 2018 and teaches a restorative practice accessible to all and focused on healing at her weekly classes held at the Fort Marcy Complex.
