Born in Dearborn, Michigan on July 27, 1950, Roland Reaver passed away peacefully and in the presence of members of his family at the home of his daughter Chelsea and her husband Lorenzo in Cerrillos, New Mexico on May 29, 2025, after a three year battle with liver cancer.
Present during his final few days were his wife of 21 years, Susan; his children Ryan, Sarah & Chelsea; as well as his son-in-law Lorenzo.
He led an extraordinary work life. His businesses included "The Rose Shop" offering affordable bouquets; "Big Sky Designs," a wood shop that designed outdoor furniture and lawn ornaments; "Traffic Jams" that installed car radios; and "Art Imports," which supplied roadside salesmen with velvet paintings, oriental rugs, sunglasses, flags of the world and frozen seafood.
For the last 25 years of his life, he served as a general contractor through "Roland's Renovations," which renovated homes in Michigan, Hawaii, Florida, New Mexico and Arizona.
He and his wife, Sue were avid ballroom dancers and they first met at a dance competition in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Halloween, 2003, and they soon married thereafter.
Roland was an avid storyteller, adventurous, hard worker, and had a casual, calm and “anything-goes” demeanor that everybody loved. He saw the good in all and inspired the best in everyone.
His children fondly remember all the adventures they had with their father from cliffside camping to road trips across the country to kayaking in the choppy waters of Hawaii.
He was a dedicated Scientologist for most of his life and was considered a founding member of the church in Michigan.
He is predeceased by his father Roland, Sr. and mother Eleanor, as well as his brothers Charles and Johnny.
He is survived by the love of his life Susan; his siblings Richard, Gregory, Andrea, Stephen, Michael, and Suzanne; his three children from his first marriage Sarah, Chelsea & Ryan; two stepsons Nicolas and Jamie; son-in-laws Lorenzo & Mike; and grandchildren Enzo, Dominic, Sidney, Landon, Maebelle, Milo, Olivia, and Pollyanne - all of whom miss him greatly.
